Dig this nursery
If you’ve always dug the Digging Dog Nursery catalog and would love to see the grounds for yourself (it made the cover of Martha Stewart Magazine and was featured one of the best destination nurseries in Fine Gardening) then say hurray to the fact that the family has invited Southern California up for a visit.
It’s not as if Digging Dog is right up the road, tho. Inland from the Mendocino Coast, you’d have to group it with your yearly Annie’s Annual trek and perhaps combine it with a wine tasting weekend in Sonoma. See my previous Cornerstone Gardens post.
Digging Dog, named after a vole hunting canine and known for its rare and unusual plants, is a family owned 14-acres run by landscape designer Gary Ratway and wife and horticulturist Deborah Whigham.
