Use your imagination

Bayer Advanced won the Director’s Trophy for this float in the Rose Parade. Theme: Garden of Imagination.

Translation: This is what your garden can look like if you use our products. Translated further: Dope your garden with pounds of pesticides and chemical fertilizers and you can have flowers just like this.

Newser—Scientist think they finally found a reason for bee Colony Collapse Disorder: Zombie flies. No seriously.

Dear Cindy,
Truer words have not been spoken! Your garden will be safer and just as beautiful without all those chemicals! Compost compost compost!

Hi Cindy,
I think your comment is a little mean-spirited.  Bayer is known for quality over-the-counter pain relievers.  A lot of gardeners get sore muscles from digging, bending and dragging.  I know I do!

Hi Cindy.  Like Toni, I think your comment was mean-spirited which doesn’t seem like you from seeing other comments, etc. you have given.  I understand disagreeing with someone or a company on their practices, but I would have expected some form of argument or pragmatic reasons why you feel that way.  I didn’t know Bayer Advanced had lawn care products, etc.  I just thought they made aspirins.

I did go on their site and they do make chemicals for lawn products but they also have a whole line of natural lawn care products - Natria:  http://www.bayeradvanced.com/natria.  They are also into sustainability:  http://www.bayeradvanced.com/sustainability.  And, finally, they are a U.S. based company; and I applaud them for that.  I realize some companies are “rascals” but Bayer Advanced doesn’t seem to be one of them; at least not from what I have checked out.  Jeannette…...

This might be a good time to mention that Bayer is responsible for producing the chemical pesticide that is very likely to be an equal, if not more so, contributor to Colony Collapse Disorder.  Check out Vanishing of the Bees and just about any other doc about CCD and you’ll see what’s not being reported by the companies themselves.  Here’s some reference reading for those who care to know more: http://www.birdchick.com/wp/2010/12/is-bayer-epa-causing-colonly-collapse-disorder-with-clothianidin/

I am, however, a big fan of aspirin. I buy the store brand though.

Good for you for speaking out against a company that produces toxic products that are blamed for causing everything from cancer to nerve disorders to autism.  And the sad truth is that NONE of us need to use these poisons in our lives.

Please keep speaking out.  People who think your comments are “mean-spirited” are just unaware of how these toxic materials are changing our world.

Toni says:

Slamming a company with a flippant remark is not “speaking out.”  If your intention is to “educate” those who may not be fully aware of the scope of a company’s products, then state the facts directly.    Sarcasm is not helpful if you truly want to inform people.  A patronizing attitude doesn’t help, either.

Wow, that got quite a reaction, didn’t it?  I thought it was funny, oh well.

Hi Cindy-

I thought your comment was hilarious, because I know that there is NOTHING manufactured by the Bayer company that will make my garden better.  I liked the comment “Compost, compost, compost !”  too.  Herbicides and pesticides are destroying our beautiful world unnecessarily.
