The garden bookstore of your dreams

Welcome to the second floor of Bell’s Books in downtown Palo Alto. Curl up in the chair after you’ve pulled some volumes from “one of the west coast’s largest selection of works on ornamental horticulture.”

There are literally thousands of new, used, and rare books on specific plants, botanical art, gardening narratives, and garden design. Phone and email requests are happily accepted.

If you’re traveling in the Bay Area I hope you won’t resist that storefront, luring you into one of the most charming spots in Silicon Valley.

Bell’s has non-garden books too—but who cares about those?

whatever
Daily Mail—-Some plants are darn lucky to find a gardener who appreciates them.

Oh to be back in my home-state, in the Bay, no less - perusing a bookstore (oh the smell of books!) and finding a wealth of gardening paraphernalia. Sigh.

I think I’ll head out to the greenhouse today for a couple hours to get my fix.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane….

Sheila, You’re welcome on the trip down memory lane! My old office was a few blocks from Bell’s Books <sigh>. Perhaps Bell’s will add some of the gardening shelves to their online catalog links http://www.bellsbooks.com/catalog for that virtual browsing (and ordering) experience.

I thoroughly enjoy my daily dose of dirt, but today’s giant thistle story link was THE BEST!!!  I’m planning to let ALL my weeds go and see what kind of records I can set!  Imagining… a 6’ dandelion, 20’ vetch, maybe even bindweed long enough to circle the house… or not!  Thanks so much, for all your hard work to bring this crazy stuff our way.

The only thing I love more than plants is a beautiful garden book. It’s an addiction. Now I know I’ll have to pack two extra suitcases—one for plants, and one for garden books. Thanks so much for the warning! wink
