Shoe fetish

What I like most about the recession is how gardeners are getting creative again. From the web site Instructables.com comes this handy pocket planter - a repurposed shoe caddy.

I can think of all kinds of things to grow in the canvas cubbies like strawberries or spilling succulents, or tiny saffron crocuses you don’t want trampled.

And the canvas, I imagine, provides aeration and drainage and should hold up at least for a summer or two. The perfect pair = shoe caddy + campanula….or ....

whatever
New York Times—Another way to think about dumpster diving - dumpsters double as urban swimming pools.
