Send mom the green that keeps on blooming

If you think cut flowers are not so politically correct these days, consider sending mom live plants for her garden from Monrovia at 1-800-flowers.com. Monrovia has hooked up with the online florist to offer live plants for regions across the nation. Among the selections are clematis, iris, lilac and Japanese maple delivered to her door. Monrovia says their live plant selection will vary month to month depending on the season. So say, if you want to send the variegated sweet iris to your best garden friend in September….

Monrovia’s live plants are a greener solution than cut flowers in some ways: Monrovia crew weed by hand, use organic mulch and recycle water - lots greener than the cut flower industry described by Amy Stewart in “Flower Confidential.”
