Planting for the fun factor

If there is one edible that is easy to plant, effortless to grow, but a blast to dig up, I vote for potatoes. You can get fancy about it starting with seed potatoes and crafting towers, or you can poke a kitchen potato 6-inches below the soil and dig up a dozen at the end of the season.

Choose something small and pre-sprouted. They’re a great first plant for children.
