Persimmon season

One tree I’d love to have and never got around to planting is a persimmon, for so many reasons: The fruit is incredible to look at, the tree provides fabulous fall color, and then there is the taste, an acquired taste for many people.

Sure enough my favorite foodie blog, White on Rice (this couple in Costa Mesa really do live the grow your own life they depict) would know what to do with a tree full of puckery fruit, besides using them for the luscious photos they shoot.

Oatmeal with a sauteed persimmon and cinnamon topping. Yah, baby!
