Michelia figo

Michelia figo is a shrub with an unforgettable scent like Creme Brulee on the wind. Some say bananas. Either way, mine is blooming now and it makes my stomach growl for a month or two.

Not much to look at and you can barely see the flowers, but Michelia figo are not about looks. One shrub is all you need to scent half a block. Hardy to 30-ish degrees with protection under eaves. From Laguna Hills Nursery’s new online store.

Smells like creme brulee?  Oh wow, I must find one.  That’s my favorite dessert.

At the SF Flower Show one of the Botanical Garden volunteers said the volunteers are evenly divided over the entrance fee issue. Tough times.

i love my Michelia Figo.  My husband calls it the
banana bubblegum plant.  i try to use it in my landscape designs so that great scent fills the yard.

I could totally see tucking one into landscape designs just make your clients happy, although they probably won’t know where the scent is coming from.

I could not find this plant when I clicked on your link, but I did find one ($39.95 - 5 gal) at their former location on Jeronimo & Lake Forest.

The scent of Creme Brulee was simply too euphoric to pass up!

Thanks for the information.
