Live and let live

I have a live and let live policy in my garden. In other words, bugs don’t bother me. But sometimes you let something live and it downright takes advantage. Take my spider population, for example: Orb Weavers everywhere you walk (they’re keepers) and some sort of funnel or tunnel spider draping my landscape in white webbing (they’re getting the boot.)

Not because I think spiders are bad, but because my house looks haunted this time of year. Yes, I have that many and they are scaring off even the door to door salesmen.

Dr. Earth organic insecticide to the rescue - it’s just a mix of kitchen herb oils and molasses. Suppose I could make it myself, but I’m dying to try Dr. Earth.

Bracey says:

How about using a strong blast from the hose that will remove the webs and discourage the spiders?  The Dr. Earth product won’t clear the webs.

Who writes this stuff!!  It is hilarious (and of course, informative).  House looks haunted….yeah, right!  HAHAHAHA

Sorry, don’t share your view on killing any harmless spider.  My personal policy is only to dispatch black widows in or near the house.  Maybe just dust down the cobwebs inside and share the planet outside.

Lynne says:

I agree about ridding homestead of the ‘drapers’; love the orb weavers, too.

Here’s a definition you might like:
Arachnaleptic fit: Dance performed by someone who has just walked through the morning’s spider webs festooning the house.

PS to Lynn: Black Widows are harmless. It’s the Brown Widows y’gotta watch out for.
