
Is your broccoli and cauliflower ready to roll?
Don’t think home grown has got to get grocery store size to be ready to harvest. In the home garden produce can be tough and woody by the time it reaches the super sizes commercial farmers achieve. Pick your broccoli and cauliflower any time you wish after the heads have formed, and way before they flower in the summer.
Broccoli and cauliflower salad
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Freshly ground black pepper
3 cups small cauliflower florets
3 cups small broccoli floretsWhisk lemon juice, garlic and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
Boil cauliflower for 4 minutes. Remove to a bowl with slotted spoon. Add the broccoli and boil for 4 minutes. Add to the bowl with cauliflower. Toss both with vinaigrette and cool in the refrigerator. Toss again before serving.
