In love with lewesia

I’m pretty sure when I retire that I am going to collect lewesias. I’ve had them before and they are not difficult to grow - California native - a succulent of sorts from high mountain regions. I lost my collection when I moved into my new, old house. Renovations and all.

It’s their blooms that blow me away. Unlike other succulents, lewesias flowers stand up high and are usually colorful - except for this pretty “White Splendor” from Annie’s Annuals. But you can collect colors from all over the spectrum.

You grow lewesia in a similar manner to other succulents—sandy pots or in the ground. What you can’t do is neglect them for 12 months at a time.

Hi, Cindy! I love lewisias, too. Great photo. Did you know they were named after explorer Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis & Clark Expedition?

Hi Cindy,
I was hoping to be able to send you a picture of my lewisia.  It’s pink and in full bloom for probably the sixth time this year.  I absolutely LOVE it!!  I just ordered 4 more from Wild Ginger Farms and have received them and potted them up.
