Draw softly and carry a big eraser

Let’s just say that you are starting with a blank slate, standing there in your backyard with nothing but a level lot of soil. Then what?

Most likely you will want to put down the two perennials you bought and pick up a pencil and paper and come up with a plan before you plant. Never good in art class?

Don’t matter, because Monrovia has a step-by-step sketch how-to that will have your landscape looking more thought out than the hodgepodge you were about to create. Tis’ far easier to erase a plant than move one.

You could also take their style quiz that gave me the image above as my dream garden. Not sure about those raspberry colors.

DAILY READ: Star News - The Elk River, MN board of commissioners voted against a proposed community garden because rakes and other implements might be “too dangerous” they say, and the liability too high if the tomatoes are stolen.
