Don’t worry - Bee happy

When bees swarm we get scared, what with all the talk about killer bees. But there are a whole bunch of people that are not only not afraid of bees, they like to keep them in their own backyards.

And I’m not talking about farmers in the central valley. These are real live city people in Southern California who keep bees on purpose. And, if you get bees in your bonnet, they’ll help out.

BeeCause - Two Orange County chicks will rescue your bees, or if you don’t have bees, but want some, they’ll hook you up.

Ebeehoney is resource page for bee people who rescue for every county in California. Again, just folks who love and keep bees.

Backwards Beekeepers - a blog for Socal bee people.

UCDavis doc for California Beekeeping Clubs - cut and paste this into your address bar: entomology.ucdavis.edu/faculty/mussen/ca-beekeeping-clubs.doc. These are regular people like us, but with honey in their bloodstream.

About the bee artist

“Tiny Bee” is by Lisa Mertins, my friend, fabulous artist, Orange County Register alum, whom I begged to illustrate my blog for me, but alas she didn’t have time. But do think about hiring her for book illustrations, web site header illustrations, notecards or wedding invitations, or whatever you need. Mertins does all kinds of art. Life Illustrated.
