Dan Hinkley coming to town

Southern California readers might want to RSVP quick-like to hear current-day plant hunter Dan Hinkley speak in Newport Beach on May 29.

Hinkley who talks botanical Latin like it’s a first language, who wrote the pithy prose for his Heronswood Nursery catalog (now closed) and who still tromps through forests all over the world to bring us something new for our gardens (Monrovia), will gab about new plants. And they’ll be fabulous.

For complete details, RSVP 949-640-5800. $25 to benefit horticultural scholarships.

PlanetGreen—And this a head’s up from Gary Jones, 10 ways to use wine bottles in the garden.
