California Friendly 2009

What is California Friendly? It’s a movement to plant drought-tolerant landscapes. It’s a contest to see who is good at it. It’s a way to garden and conserve water anyway you can. It’s thinking about our runoff and other environmental issues.

Who is California Friendly? Our local water districts, the Surfrider Foundation, Coastkeepers, UCCE, native plant people and other drought-friendly plant propagators. It’s also us - the gardeners.

The California Friendly garden competition is getting fierce, the prizes even better. California Friendly contest committees are gearing up for 2009. It’s still early, but keep your eyes peeled for contests in these Southern California counties.
