Big stink at Huntington Botanical Gardens

It’s official - “Stinky” the Corpse Flower over at the Huntington has finally bloomed. Native to Sumatra, these 6-foot tall Amorphophallus titanums have flowered only 50 times in the United States. So this is a big deal in more ways than one.

No dilly-dallying because they don’t last long - 3 days tops. The flower smells like rotten flesh, but the fun is you can pick up a pup of your very own (little Stinkys $250 in the bookstore) or get the lousy t-shirt that implies you survived ($19.95).

and this

Pottery Barn has these gorgeous beach towels marked down to $24 and I can’t stop thinking how they can be re-imagined as something else—chair covers…floor pillows…wall art…what?
