August rose care

I’ve always been a big fan of whacking the roses in August. All the way down to five basic canes and to two or three feet high. Mostly because I can’t stand the sight of their black spot, rust, mildew or whatever else they’ve got going on in the summer pestilence department.

The bonus? The best saturated colors and disease-free foliage you’ve ever seen right before the holidays.

Thanks for the heads up on the roses. I would have not remembered to trim mine down. smile

Thanks for the reminder but I was ahead of the game and did them all last week leaving them looking naked and sparse.  But am looking forward to seeing what they will produce.
