Still another reason to grow your own

Just in case flavor and freshness are not enough, TreeHugger.com offers a link to the Environmental Working Group’s list of fruits and vegetables with the highest pesticide loads. Btw, of the five all-time worst, all grow easily in Southern California.

If space is a problem in your landscape, you could prioritize your planting using the list. For example, don’t grow avocados and onions that have extremely low pesticide loads. Use your space to grow peaches and bell peppers that are at the top of the group’s Dirty Dozen.
