A backlit look at Lotusland

No doubt our drama queen and six-time divorcee Madame Ganna Walksa would love these recent images of her beloved Lotusland photographed by Mitchell Maher in the eerie afternoon light.

Mitch does that—shoot his gardens in that 45-minute window between dusk and dark and the results are dramatic. Here he captures the spirituality of the place that Walksa originally planned as a retreat for Tibetan monks. (She took up yoga instead.)

And while we are on the subject of Mitch, Sunset Magazine and LATimes should hire this aspiring landscape photographer at Mitchell Maher Photography.org. And no, we’re not related. Swear.
