Flabbergasted Pat

Many have learned to garden by Pat Welsh’s book Southern California Gardening, a month-to-month guide. We’ve seen her at garden shows, we’ve heard her speak.

But what a surprise to see her on the Antiques Roadshow - San Diego - with a portrait of her grandmother. The painting that she thought was worth something only to her, was appraised at $250,000.

This is how we’ve never seen Pat - flabbergasted. Too funny.

Pat Welsh is a cherished friend and I’ve never seen her so surprised!  There’s a fascinating story to go with the painting, and I think you can see the whole Antiques Roadshow episode on the KPBS website.  Pat was the Horticulturist of the Year of the San Diego Horticultural Society a few years ago, and an extremely popular speaker and best-selling author.
