About Dirt du jour
Dirt du jour is a free daily email and website about gardening that serves a community of passionate plant people in Southern California.
This daily dose of dirt is the brain trust of garden writer and illustrator Cindy McNatt who has been digging in the daffs for 35 years.
Dirt du jour is an ezine, eletter and blog tailored to the gardener who wants the heads up about what is new, hip, up and coming, over, on sale and too expensive. Sometimes we offer gardening tips or plant profiles and sometimes we simply ramble on about roses.
It’s a snap to sign up for Dirt du jour. You will receive a helpful email about gardening Monday through Friday plus you can click to visit our website and dig in the compost piles, read book reviews or find our monthly garden guides.
If Dirt du jour is not your cup of tea (whaa!) it is just as easy to un-subscribe. Click the unsubscribe link at the very bottom of every email or click here.
Did we mention Dirt du jour is free? The way we earn our seed money is through advertising, sponsors and sponsored links.

Editorial and privacy policies
Editorial content is strictly separate from advertising. We may occasionally send you sponsored emails, but when we do we will strive to make them distinct from editorial content. Sponsored emails may say up front “Brought to by…insert big corporate advertiser here.” (We wish!)
Also, Dirt du jour does not sell, rent or share our subscriber list. Ever. Information we collect about you such as your zip code and plant preferences helps us tailor and deliver content and sale information regionally. Sometimes it tells advertisers how serious you are about salvias or succulents, but we never give them information such as your email address.
We do place a “cookie” on your computer (a small text file) so that once you sign-up you won’t have to do it again. Your computer will recognize us and our computers will recognize you. “Cookies” are like having the passkey to the pool.
Because you also receive images with your emails, you may want to activate images in your email program. And you can enhance our email delivery if you add Cindy@dirtdujour.com to the address book in your email program. It assures our emails won’t end up in your spam file.
We hope you love Dirt du jour’s free daily emails about gardening as much as we love writing them. We will be honored if you pass our emails along to your gardening friends - it helps us grow.
Also, feel free to offer us your latest and greatest gardening tips, give us the head’s up on new plants, provide a division of your hard-to-find arums or rare Tibetan tulips, gossip, report breaking news, make a request, cry, complain or congratulate us. Email Dirt du jour here.
